She calls Texas home and is a member of the TX chapter of The Recording Academy, so we went with that :-) Hope you enjoy getting to know some of these artists. I’m enamored!
Totally. It’s hard to narrow it down. I may do a similar list for Detroit. It’s busting at the seams with talent whom most folks have never heard. It’s crazy, and I hope to help spotlight it.
Okay I swear I replied to your note before I saw you posted the article, lol. Glad that Carolyn made the list! I’m diving into the others now. Thank you so much for shining a spotlight on these talented guitarists.
I live in Wimberley and all 5 of these great musicians have played down here at one point or another—Carolyn has quite often. I’m also a host and board member of KWVH.org and our little community radio station features local talent regularly—particularly on Coach’s show from 9-11 CT weekdays.
Thea were are indeed spoiled by the wealth of talent and live performance in this area.
Sue Foley is Canadian by birth (Ottawa, Ontario). I can vouch for her singing and guitar skills...

A great list of incredible talent! Definitely makes me miss Austin. Looking forward to Part II.
There are so many brilliant female non-guitarists talent in Austin. That could easily be another set of lists. Thanks!

Great lineup of guitarists!
Great article. I'd love to see some Detroit women guitarists, also - I grew up attending concerts in Detroit. Thank you and Nora for the shout out!
You read my mind! So much great music here. And thank YOU for spending time with us. Already putting those tips to work!! 🤓🤘🏻✅
Excellent!

You’re welcome! And thanks for supporting them. The talent is overwhelming!
This is great, thx. I'm not familiar with any of these ladies but I am down for bluesy guitar shredders all day every day.
Carolyn and Sue will be your heavy blues picks. 🎸

Wimberly is magical. Where do you go to see Carolyn? And have you seen Shelley King play as well?
Both of them—yes. Out in Fischer there’s a great and homie outdoor venue. They’ve played out there with Guy Forsyth and others ☺️
Love Guy! Have you seen his wife Jeska play with her new band? They’re great!
Not yet but they’re at Devils Backbone Saloon down the road in a couple weeks 🙏
Nice! Haven’t been there in 20 years 😯

We just lost Charlie Robison (RIP) but his sister runs it now. Very cool venue.
And—as you know—the world’s eyes have been on Texas long before Beyoncé cracked the country charts.
Of course, I’ll always be a Texan at heart 🧡 But with all the headlines, it’s a good time to showcase all the talent!
Thank you, excellent list. I had not heard The Tiarras or Emily Wolfe before.
So happy you discovered more talent!! That’s what it’s all about 🥰
Thank you for turning me on to Carolyn Wonderland, what a superb talent!
YW. Can’t wait to hear her new album!
