“A New Day Has Come!”
I am thrilled to launch my music industry newsletter on Substack!
After transitioning Herizon Music newsletter and podcast to “for-profit” programming this summer, I wasn’t sure how to move forward with the brand and my personal mission to uplift women in the music industry. These programs bring me joy, but I also have to make a living :)
Before I get to the ch-ch-ch-changes on that front, let’s talk the healing powers of music and color!
Thursday, Sept. 14th: National Coloring Day
Did you know that coloring and listening to music both prove effective in treating trauma? FACT! That’s why I’m celebrating National Coloring day with a FREE coloring sheet and 30 inspiring quotes from iconic women in music.
Let the healing begin! Print as many copies as you like, share with family members, students, Facebook friends, and music lovers of all ages. Listen to Herizon Music’s Women’s Empowerment Playlist while you color. 💪🏻
🎁 Upload your finished masterpiece and tag “@theherizonmusic” on Facebook and/or Instagram by September 15th, and you could win **COOL** contest prizes courtesy of the ColorScape App. People are already sending us their art, and we’re digging it! Winner announced on September 18, 2023.
Use crayons, colored pencils, markers or Colorscape to finish your art. Our social media coordinator, Bianca showed off the cool coloring capabilities of Colorscape in a progression series on social media. Check it out.
Go to Eventbrite, click “get tickets” and you’ll receive an email with an “enter event” link. Click that link and you’ll have access to the downloads. Thanks to Colorscape and Childress Ink for partnering with us on this fun mental health campaign. 😌
Back To Those Ch-ch-ch-changes
In case you’re interested in where we’re going with Herizon Music’s next chapter, here’s the rundown. As a long-time fan of “Lenny’s Newsletter” (which just hit 500,000 subscribers), I took his newsletter success pointers to heart and designed a new plan for Herizon Music’s newsletter.
What does that mean for you?
You’ll meet women who are making waves on stage, on air, and behind the scenes. Their stories are thought provoking, relatable, and entertaining for music lovers and professionals alike. Upcoming podcast episodes will be featured!
Guest writers will join me in covering music industry trends that affect women, their careers, and their fans. From #metoo struggles to new ways to make a living wage, you’ll get insights that will help you flourish as a professional and a music lover.
A paid weekly subscription option will soon be available if you’d like access to exclusive meetups (IRL and online), streamed artist showcases, and product/service offers and discounts. The quantifiable benefits will be more than worth the low monthly fee. Stay tuned for announcements.
The Herizon Music brand got a makeover! I’m still rolling it out to social, but you’re seeing it here first :)
The free subscription will arrive in your email on a monthly basis.
This is a career and community-building journey that I am thrilled to share with you. My hope is that you will share it with other like-minded women.
Thank you joining our band of dreamers, rule breakers, and rockstars!

I'm a man by the way.
Anyway, I'm a music writer myself. Let's collaborate or subscribe to each other's newsletters.
