Thea, so very sorry for your loss. David sounds like he was a wonderful stepdad and grandfather and an amazing man. Such a blessing to have someone like that in your life in person and in memories.
I've been meaning to get your subscription (have now done so) and support whatever you decide to do. It's been great to know you are advocating for women artists too, but I'm a believer in following your passions and your heart. So I look forward to whatever path you decide to follow.
I am so sorry for your loss! Thank you so much for sharing this with us - I’m glad you hit that publish button! This was such a beautiful story. How amazing that you guys ended up catching the Al Stewart show!
Music is magical, emotional, therapeutic…and you managed to express all of that in such a beautiful way.
I’m so glad that you were able to celebrate your son’s graduation. That is such horrible timing.
Don’t worry about keeping to a schedule or pressuring yourself! We will be here regardless. I’m also quite sporadic about publishing (as others have mentioned above lol). It is really about quality, not quantity. You are a quality writer and we appreciate you ❤️❤️❤️
Kristin, thank you for sharing your kind words of encouragement. It will take a while to get my heart and brain back into the “game” so to speak. Day by day!
So sorry for your loss Thea. I know how the grieving can last and interrupt what seems like a perfectly "normal" day. I'd start bawling when I'd listen to Alanis Morissette's "I Miss the Band" when my mom died. Songs about "missing" and "time passages" can definitely be triggering. They also provoke memories of all the good times we had too. Peace to you.
I’m sorry about your mom. The Morrisette song is always yours. I truly believe that our loved ones can feel us through the vibrations that we shared in life. They know we think of them. They think of us. Music is a blessing beyond compare.
Beautiful piece, Thea! Thanks for your candor and vulnerability. This is such an important subject for those of us in this stage of life, and it helps to know that you find grief as complicated as I do. BTW, Herizon is in good hands, and I trust you'll take it wherever it needs to go.
Such a beautiful tribute to David. I can feel the profound love in every word you wrote. The Al Stewart story made me smile wide. “Time Passages” is an “all the feels” summoner of a brilliant song.
Don’t worry about keeping to a schedule or output. I distinctly remember you saying something similar when I struggled to write regularly.
Beautiful reminiscence, which is what music does. Music creates connections and, as I often say, music gives us what we need when we need it. And it finds us... 'Time Passages will always keep you and David connected. And so glad you did share this...
My dearest Thea, thank you for sharing this. I too have leaned into music in times of deep pain, and in times of fear, anxiety, or just feeling drained. Music has the ability to change the mood, and the ability to profoundly move. You are loved.
So sorry for your loss, Thea. ❤️🩹
Music heals. Your Al Stewart story brought a tear to my eye - the universe. . .
That darn Universe. Will getchya every time if you give it a chance. Thankfully.
Very sorry for your loss. This is a loving tribute to a person who sounds amazing. Thank you for sharing.
