New Music From Women We Love, April 2025
Rebecca Black, Linda Brady Revival, Lesbiana, Jenny Räisänen, Burke
We’re back! This issue spotlights new releases from trailblazers and rising stars as a follow-up to last week’s list. Gotta keep the length of each issue digestible, as my mother so astutely reminded me.
Before hopping into new music listings, I’d like to thank premium subscribers. This newsletter and podcast cost money to produce with graphics platforms, legal fees, production costs, contractors, BMI and ASCAP licensing (which allows me to include songs in podcast episodes), and professional organizations that keep me educated on industry trends.
My goal: inspire 100 people of the 1300 that subscribe to Herizon Music to upgrade to a paid subscription.
I know. So many worthy causes need money in light of arts programs disappearing and valuable civil servants losing their jobs. Women in music are suffering, too. Our voices are being wiped out from American history and government programs faster than Nicki Minaj and Eminem in a freestyle battle. This aesthetic force by omission is done on purpose. Female musicians are the front line of free speech. Female artists have been shot down, underpaid, raped, bullied, spit on (literally), ignored, denied credit/payment for their work, and shut out of opportunity due to their gender, age, color, weight, and “beauty” factor. Enough is enough.
Herizon Music is dedicated to making sure their contributions and stories are documented and celebrated. That is how the next generation learns and grows. Together, WE RISE.
Now, back to our scheduled programming.

Let’s get the party started!
New Music From Women We Love, April 2025
Salvation, Rebecca Black (California)
album, pop/hyperpop
Since her first music video “Friday” went viral in 2011, Rebecca Black has had a string of pop successes in spite of many negative media reviews and a record label legal battle that wrecked her mental health. Now releasing music on her self-titled label, this album features a timely protest song “American Doll” and “Salvation” but the album’s club banger (IMHO) is the steamy “Sugar Water Cyanide.”
“Up The Incline,” The Linda Brady Revival (Washington D.C.)
single, indie rock
Sister stacker Linda Brady released this single from her recent album Deep Brain Stimulator. “Up The Incline” is the rare extended indie rock song (any indie rock song over three minutes is extended in my book) thanks to a surprising guitar solo. The lyrics and “pounding of the pavement” make you feel the uphill battles women face in modern-day career and parenthood.

TOGETHER, WE RISE!
“Blue Green Party Scene,” Lesbiana (Massachusetts)
single, grunge alt rock
Spanish for “lesbian,” Lesbiana is a 21-year old sister music stacker whose dark side stretches way beyond her years. Think gothic grungy alt rock that PJ Harvey fans would dig. Not sure if this song sets up a jump-scare slasher movie climax or innocently warns that you will end up taking care of her drunk ass after the blue Green Party where she begged for “just a little bit more.” Either way, this single is hauntingly addictive.
Thanks to
for the introduction.“Underneath,” Jenny Räisänen (Ireland by way of Finland)
single, indie pop
Jenny Räisänen describes her sound as “dark cinematic sounds with a spark of hope.” I’m not a huge fan of modern dance, but the choreography in this video captured me- the unexpected ending is jarring yet makes sense if you pay attention to the song.
“American Girl,” Burke ()
Single, alt pop rock
Remember those wholesome American Girl dolls that represent girls from different eras and background stories? Well, I doubt you’ll find Burke’s “American Girl” doll in the collection. “This is a war on women, what the fuck are you not gettin’?” Is the lyric summing up this politically-charged new single.
Thank you for joining our band of dreamers, rule breakers, and rockstars!
It’s a wrap,

Thx for restacking!
Amazing write up as always. So much music, so little time.
